Skull Flats - New Look // Spiked Necklace - eBay
This is the second instalment of my 'Tuesday Shoesday' series. For those who missed last weeks, basically I will be showing you one of the lovely pairs of shoes I have in my wardrobe, featuring them in an outfit post and telling you a little bit about why I love them and what outfits I wear them with. If you are a shoe-aholic like me, this feature will suit you to a T!
Today I wanted to show you my gorgeous grey flats with feature little skull embellishments. As soon as I saw these on the New Look website, I knew I had to have them. These grey flats are so versatile as they pretty much go with every other colour, but I love how the skulls add edge to an outfit. I chose to wear them with a pretty simply outfit (I actually wore this yesterday) to make the shoes the key feature, but you could easily mix them with printed and textured pieces, like a lace dress. In fact they looked really lovely with my peach peter pan collar lace dress, which I wore for drinks in town a couple of weeks ago.
Although they are not considered to be very girly, I have always loved skulls, ever since I went through my little 'emo / scene / whatever the hell you want to call it' phase when I was 15 / 16. I'm no longer too keen on the ones they try and make girly, by putting bows in there hair, preferring the more traditional ones like sugar skulls. Gothic romance inspired fashion, is said to be big this season, with lace, skulls, studs and spiked embellished pieces seen all over the high street and internet. It is certainly a trend I am comfortable wearing and makes a nice change from my girly tea dresses!
Ps My mum has been working very hard writing a wonderful book called 'The Dragon Legacy.' She has entered a writing competition - So You Think You Can Write - and I would love it if my lovely followers would vote for her entry. You can vote once per day!
