C by Covert Accessories iPad and iPhone case review

A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by the lovely team at Blog Branch who informed me that I'd won their Covert Accessories giveaway. I was so excited to have won because both the Lexi iPhone cover and iPad case were absolutely gorgeous!

Not only are the two cases super stylish with their lovely cream and black cut out design, but they are also extremely high quality, having been handcrafted from real leather. Although I own a MacBook Pro and iPhone, I do not actually own an iPad, so I sneakily borrowed my brother's for the pictures. I am planning on using the case as a clutch bag, as it's the perfect size for my iPhone, cards and a couple of makeup items.

If you are looking for a new iPhone or iPad case, I highly recommend checking out the C by Covert collection as there are so many gorgeous cases to choose from. Covert Accessories have also teamed up with Rosie Fortescue from Made in Chelsea to create a colourful collection of covers, which is super lovely too!

A big thank you to Blog Branch and Covert Accessories for the beautiful covers. They will definitely be put to good use! If you haven't already, be sure to visit the Blog Branch website. It's like a hub for fashion, beauty and lifestyle bloggers, providing tips, hints and tutorials to help you get the most out of blogging.

What do you think of my new Covert Accessories cases?

Adding a pop of colour to outfits

Stripy top - Levi's //  Faux leather skirt - F&F // Orange bag - Radley // Boots - New Look

Although I have quite a few bags in my collection, the orange Radley bag I got for Christmas from my boyfriend is my absolute favourite. I would never have thought to pick up an orange coloured bag myself, but it looks amazing with so many of my daytime outfits and adds a much needed pop of colour to predominantly black ensembles, like the one featured above. The boy did good!

If like me you get a little intimidated my bold, block colours or are unsure how to style them, I suggest choosing a single coloured accessory to incorporate into your outfits. Check out some of my favourite coloured accessories from the high street below...

Pop of colour

I'm eager to get my hands on the gorgeous Topshop holdall and think the Zara necklace will look perfect popped over a plain grey top. When it comes to adding colour to your outfits, it's best not to go over the top. Adding a lime green bag to your monochrome outfit or a slick of hot pink lipstick will give you that much needed pop of colour, without making you look like you should be presenting a kids TV programme!

Are you good at incorporating colour into your outfits?
I'd love to hear your tips!

Summer scents: Mojito cocktail candle review

Mojito Cocktail Candle* - £11.99 - Find Me a Gift

I love Mojito cocktails so when Find Me a Gift kindly sent me one of their new Mojito Cocktail Candles to try, I was intrigued to see if it reminded me of the real thing.

Like the cocktail, the Mojito candle has a zesty lime and mint scent. It is very refreshing and is just what I need to wake me up when I am feeling a little snoozy mid-afternoon! I love that the candle comes in a sophisticated glass jar as it looks lovely placed on top of my bureau. It is made from 100% vegetable wax and has a burning time of approximately thirty hours. The candle burns fairly evenly and it's scent continues to linger for a good while after it has been blown out.

Going back to the scent, I would describe it as sweet, yet not sickly and strong, but not too overpowering. If you like fresh and fruity scents or happen to be a fan of Mojitos like myself, it is definitely one to try! Whilst I'd still say warmer scents like vanilla are my favourite, it's great to change it up (especially for summer) with something a little more light and zesty. The candle also comes presented in a lovely box (which I forgot to photograph) and would make the ideal birthday or house warming gift.

Looking for a scented candle that will help you transition your home from spring to summer?
Pop this one at the top of your list!

F&F Fashion Haul

I don't know about you but when it comes to fashion sale shopping I'm usually left disappointed, however after shopping the F&F (Tesco clothing) sale last week I was pleasantly surprised! There were so many amazing sale buys so I thought I'd do a little post to show you what I picked up.

First up is the Jacquard check mini skirt which was just £7.00. I thought this would be perfect for pairing with everything from cute collared blouses to oversized knitwear. I was a little worried that it would be too figure hugging with it being made from a stretchy material but it ended up being snug yet very flattering on the good old curves!

Heart Cable Knit Jumper £12.00
It may be spring time, but if you live in the UK too you'll know that jumpers are still a must! I love this gorgeous grey knit and think the heart is adorable. I'll get lots of wear out of this pairing it with skinny jeans, leggings and faux leather skirts.

Speaking of faux leather skirts, I decided to pick up another one as this high waisted skater skirt from F&F was just £10.00 in the sale. Before I picked this up I didn't actually own a skater skirt (shock horror) and although leather is more of a winter material, I think this will work well in spring paired with cropped tops and knitwear.

F&F lingerie is cheap yet so pretty, so I decided to pick up a few pairs of knickers including a Bridget Jones style pair that 'smooth' the bottom half. We all need a bit of help every now and then right? I also picked up the cream and black bra, which unfortunately looked much better on the site than in real life (never mind) and a pair of baggy heart print lounge 'pants' (oh so American).

I would say all of this for fifty pounds was pretty good, but then F&F did one better by offering £10.00 off orders over £50.00 with a special Easter discount code. In other stores you can't usually use discounts on sale items, so I was VERY impressed that F&F let you. All of this for £40.00 plus free delivery - not bad at all!

The F&F sale is still on so go have a browse and if you buy anything be sure to let me know in the comment section below!

4 lovely products for brightening your complexion

Sanctuary Fresh Faced Purifying Wash - £9.00 – Boots
The Fresh Faced Purifying Wash by Sanctuary Spa is one of my favourite face washes. This product is designed to balance the skins moisture levels and leave it feeling cool and refreshed. Unlike other face washes, this doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight - in fact it feels rather soft! I also find that my skin looks more radiant and fresh, probably because it gives it such a deep clean. At £9.00 it is a little over priced for a face wash (I bought it as part of a gift set) but it is a lovely product.

Sanctuary Radiance Exfoliator -  £10.50 - Boots
One of the best ways to rejuvenate your skin and achieve a glowing complexion is to exfoliate. There are many different facial scrubs, toners and masks you can use to exfoliate your skin, but my current favourite is the Sanctuary Radiance Exfoliator. This contains ultra-fine apricot granules and grape seeds that exfoliate and refine the skin, along with pumpkin, pineapple and papaya extracts which help to increase cell renewal. I tend to use this a couple of times a week and the results are immediately noticeable.

Vitamin E Illuminating Moisture Cream - £10.00 – The Body Shop
When my mum bought the Vitamin E Illuminating moisture cream for us to try I was a little bit wary of it. I imagined that I’d apply it to my skin and I’d look like Edward Cullen. I was wrong. This is a beautiful moisturiser that not only hydrates the skin, but adds a lilac toned glow to the skin too. My mum doesn’t wear foundation but her skin always looks radiant and fresh after applying this moisture cream. I do wear foundation and find that this moisture cream is the perfect base. You just need to make sure you massage it into the skin properly or the lilac glow can be a little too obvious.

Radiant Highlighter - £12.00 – The Body Shop
Until I picked up the Radiant Highlight from The Body Shop, I’d never used a liquid highlighter before. What I like about this highlighter is that it can be used two ways. You can either apply it under your foundation for a subtle glow or after you have applied your face makeup to highlight your cheek and brow bones. If you are doing the latter, I advise dotting a small amount of the product over the top of your cheek bones and gently patting it into the skin. It’s quite subtle so if you blend too much it’ll disappear.

Of course, drinking plenty of water and eating lots of fruit and veg are the best remedies for dull skin, but we all need a little extra help every now and then and these four products certainly do the trick for me.

Have you tried any of the products featured above?

Seek My Scribbles Giveaway

I don't do many giveaways, but I thought it was about time I did one to say thank you to all of you who read and follow my blog! Seek My Scribbles has had it's ups and downs and whilst my posting has been inconsistent in the past, I feel like I finally know the direction this blog is going in. I've definitely been encouraged by your comments and lovely tweets so I just want to say a big, big thank you for your support.

I hope you like the prizes I've chosen for this giveaway. There's a pink theme going on! I chose the pink satchel, which I featured in my F&F wish list because a few people commented saying how much they wanted it too. I picked out the three mini notebooks as if you're anything like me, you need a good notebook for making lists and blog post planning. Finally I chose the Cath Kidston  handbag duo, because it will be perfect for popping inside the satchel. The set contains a multi-purpose beauty balm and a lip balm.

All of the prizes have been bought with my own money, so this giveaway is not sponsored in any way. The only compulsory entry is that you follow this blog either on Bloglovin or GFC. To enter please use the Rafflecopter widget below, where you will also find full T&Cs. The giveaway is open to UK residents only as I am covering my own postage costs. The giveaway closes on the 8th May 2014 at 11:59pm.

Good luck everyone and again THANK YOU! xo

Amazing animals - Guide dogs

Although I usually share fashion and beauty related posts here on Seek My Scribbles, every now and then you'll find the odd pet post. I absolutely adore my two dogs, Jazz and Oby so when I was contacted about sharing this guide dog video here on Seek My Scribbles, I was more than happy to oblige!

Whilst the majority of us rely on our four legged friends for love, comfort and at times, humour, those that are visually impaired have to essentially put their lives in the hands of their guide dogs. I think guide dogs are truly wonderful and amazing, as are the people who train them and those who put their faith in their guide dogs to keep them safe.

It's not very often I ask readers to do anything, but I would love it if you would take a minute to watch the video posted above. If nothing else it will warm your heart and make you truly appreciate the work of guide dogs and their trainers. I especially loved the video because the dog is called Jazz, like my dog!

For more information about the campaign or to sponsor a guide dog yourself, click here. You can sponsor a guide dog puppy for as little as £1.00 a week and for that you will receive regular pupdates, a calendar and photographs.

If like me, you love dogs, you may be interested in attending the Dogs Unite! event at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on the 14th June 2014. Tickets can be purchased here. I am hoping to attend myself!

I know this is a little different from my usual posts but I like to share information about good causes and Guide Dogs is definitely what I call a good cause.

A little family tea party

Yesterday was a good day. We ate lots of delicious food and indulged in a glass (or two) of vintage champagne in celebration of my brother's twenty first birthday. Despite their only being five of us, we had a feast that would probably feed about fifty, leaving plenty of left overs for the next few days! My mum did a fabulous job with the spread, particularly with the fairy cakes which looked picture perfect and tasted even better.

Tonight we're off for a family meal at Il Rosso in Mansfield. It is one of my favourite places to dine, so I'm really looking forward to it. This is the last of my brother's twenty first birthday celebrations which have been going on since last Thursday! You're only twenty one once though so it's definitely something to celebrate.

A short & sweet post, but I hope you've enjoyed it and that my tea party food hasn't made you too hungry!

Treats from the Body Shop

Hair Chalk // Vitamin E Sink-In Moisture Mask // Blusher // Lip Liner Fixer
I can't resist a bargain so when I saw the Body Shop had yet another discount code (this time offering 40% off non-sale items) I knew I had to pick up a few treats. To be completely honest, the only item I really wanted to pick up was the Vitamin E Sink-In Moisture Mask. One of the beauty vloggers (I can't remember who) was singing it's praises the other day and it sounded like a product I'd like, especially since the Vitamin E range is one of my favourites by the Body Shop.

I also picked up a pink blusher in the shade marshmallow. This is a lovely rosy pink colour which is quite subtle upon application (a lot more subtle than it looks in the pan). Did I need another blusher? Nope! But I've popped it straight in my everyday makeup bag and will get a lot of use out of a shade like this.

My next intention was to pick up a lip liner, but ended up picking up this lip liner fixer instead. This is a retractable pencil that apparently forms an invisible barrier around the lips to fill in fine lines and prevent lipstick bleeding. I've not had chance to experiment with this yet, but I'll keep you posted!

My final purchase was a pot of pink hair chalk. That was one very spontaneous click of the mouse! There was a time when I had pink streaks in my fringe when I was at school and I am pretty sure I vowed to never go there again. Oops! I'm thinking of just trying this out on the ends of my hair. Apparently you just seal it with hairspray and then it washes out. We'll see about that! Don't worry though I'm not planning on going Kelly Osbourne at the 2002 MTV Awards on you. I'm not sure it's even going to show up on my hair...

Fancy treating yourself?
You can get 40% all items (including sale) using the code '14670' (expires 15.04.14)
or
£10.00 off when you spend £25.00 using the code '14393'

My favourite spring nail polish | Rita Ora for Rimmel 'Breakfast in Bed'

Rimmel London -  873 Breakfast in Bed // £3.69 in Boots
I don't know about you, but I love it when I find the perfect nail polish colour that just seems to tone in perfectly with all of my seasonal outfits. This happened recently when I picked up the shade 'Breakfast in Bed' from Rimmel London's relatively new collection in collaboration with Rita Ora.

Breakfast in Bed is a beautiful mint green shade that has a subtle shimmery finish. It only needs a couple of coats (though for me it needed three as I forgot to shake the bottle - oops) and dries relatively quickly...not far off sixty seconds I'd say! The bottle is beautifully designed with a stamp featuring Rita Ora wearing the same colour on her nails. Pretty cool that.

I've seen a number of reviews stating that the formula is a little thick and whilst I have only just noticed this myself, I wouldn't say it affects the application at all. I still found it really easy to apply and I'm the world's worst nail polish painter.

The thing that has stood out for me the most about this nail polish (aside from the beautiful colour and cute name) is the fact it is very chip resistant. I usually find that my nails chip after a day or two, but it's been nearly a whole week now and it's only just starting to chip majorly.

After loving this polish so much, I am definitely going to invest in a few other colours from the collection. I really love the look of 'Pillow Talk,' a pastel blue and 'Rita Rouge,' a dark red shade.

Have you tried any of the Rita Ora for Rimmel London polishes?

Lush Easter Bunny bubble bar review

As a huge fan of Lush's bubble bars, I simply couldn't resist picking up 'Bunny' from their new Easter collection. Bunny is a gorgeous bunny shaped bubble bar made from vanilla absolute, blue cornflower petals, fair trade shea butter and extra virgin coconut oil. He (I've decided it's a he) smells very similar to the creamy candy bubble bar from the core collection and is super duper adorable, don't you think?

Although I would have been happy if bunny was just a plain old white bunny, I was very pleasantly surprised to see that it is actually pink inside and with the addition of the blue cornflower petals, made for a very colourful and pretty bath! Bunny is extremely easy to crumble (though I did feel a little guilty taking away half his body) and produces mountains of gorgeous fluffy bubbles.

As well as providing me with a rather luxurious bath, Bunny also made my bathroom smell heavenly! If you love sweet candy scents and fancy injecting a little 'Easter' into your bath time, I highly recommend treating yourself to a bunny bubble bar. Seeing as he's Easter themed, I don't imagine he'll be sticking around for long (though I may be wrong) so I'd go pick one up quickly before he hops off for the year!

The Bunny bubble bar costs £3.25.
Lush is a cruelty-free brand.

F&F Clothing at Tesco Spring Picks

Structured Hand Held Satchel Bag // Daisy Lace Shell Top // Daisy Organza Pencil Skirt // Two Part Stiletto Court Shoes
In my opinion F&F is the best supermarket clothing brand, easily rivalling many well-known highstreet fashion stores. The collections never fail to impress me and I was blown away by their beautiful new spring collection which features my two favourite things, pastels and florals. From daisy overlay skirts to candy coloured dresses and satchels, I almost feel like F&F has tailored their spring collection just for me! Although there are many gorgeous new items both in-store and on the website, one being this beautiful daisy organza tunic dress I picked up the other day, the four items featured in this post are high on my wish list.

Unintentionally, yet rather wonderfully, I picked four items that I believe would make a lovely springtime outfit! With each item here priced under £20.00, you really can't go wrong money-wise. I can also vouch for the quality of F&F's clothing and accessories, with my most-used satchel bag being from there and still going strong after over a year! If you are looking to treat yourself to a new spring wardrobe, I highly recommend picking up some of your staple pieces from F&F. You will be pleasantly surprised, trust me!

Gorgeous eyeshadow palettes under a fiver

Unprotected // Dreamy // Show Me The Money // Enchanted
Let's be honest, eyeshadow palettes can be very expensive. Whilst I would love to own all three of the Urban Decay Naked palettes (especially number three) at almost £40.00 each, I still haven't yet talked myself into hitting the buy button. If like me you admire the beauty of the Naked palettes, but are looking for eyeshadow palettes that are much more purse-friendly, I highly recommend checking out the offerings of Vivo, in the form of their twelve shade palettes.

I own both the neutrals palettes (surprise, surprise) and absolutely adore them. I've used them so much that they are super messy, which is why I decided not to photograph them! As well as two fabulous neutral palettes 'Unprotected' and 'Dreamy' (swatches can be found here and here) they also have a brights palette, 'Show Me The Money' and a mixed palette, 'Enchanted.' What I love about these eye shadows is that they are not at all chalky. I wouldn't even have minded if they were a little chalky at just £3.99 each, but they're not! The shades are highly pigmented, apply smoothly and are very easy to blend. I also like the fact that their is a mix of both shimmer and matte shades in all four palettes.

If you are looking to buy your first eyeshadow palette or are simply looking for a budget friendly alternative, I highly recommend picking up a palette from Vivo. They also deliver to most countries (whoop whoop) and do not test on animals, which gives them extra bonus points from moi!

Have you tried any of the palettes from Vivo?
What did you think of them?

The Spring Tag

Tag by Makeup Pixi3 / Image - Seek My Scribbles
1. What's your favourite nail colours for Spring?
I love pastel shades for spring! At the moment I really like Blueberry Muffin by Models Own. A brighter shade I love is the Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Enamel in Blue No Blues.

2. Best drink for Spring?
I don’t know whether I have a specific ‘spring’ drink, however I have been drinking a lot of orange and passion fruit J20s recently.

3. What goes on your lips in Spring?
Usually I would say a peachy coloured lipstick, but this year I’m really into glosses. I particularly like Aurora by Tanya Burr. It’s a lovely pink lipgloss that is perfect for pairing with a gold shimmery eye.

4. What's your favourite thing about Spring?
I love the fact that you don’t feel like you’re getting up in the middle of the night when you wake up in the morning. I find it so hard to wake up when it’s still dark and gloomy outside. In spring I feel so much more willing to jump out of bed (ok maybe that’s slightly over enthusiastic) and start my day!

5. Best perfume for Spring?
I think fresh, floral scents are lovely for spring. I’m tempted to pick up Daisy by Marc Jacobs as (shock horror) I have never bought it before and imagine it is lovely for spring. I also really want to pick up Sui Dreams by Anna Sui, but that’s more to do with the fact it was a scent I wore a few years ago that I feel like revisiting!

6. What TV series are you watching the most at the moment?
Aside from the programmes I always watch (TVD, The Originals, Grey’s Anatomy) I have really got into Son’s of Anarchy! It’s something my boyfriend and I enjoy watching together and the storylines are amazing. It’s fast paced and keeps you on your toes - I love it!

7. Do you wear a different colour eye shadow in Spring?
If you had asked me any other year I would say no, but as of recently I have been trying to experiment with different eye shadow colours. Rather than sticking to my usual brown and bronze shades, I’m trying to incorporate gold and rose gold shades into my spring makeup looks.

8. Do you change your hair for the changing season?
Not really! I had my long hair chopped off a few months ago and now it’s fairly short (for me anyway). I’ve been wearing it straight a lot, as it’s the hairstyle that requires the least effort. I do think curly and wavy hair is very spring-like though.

9. What kind of music do you listen do in Spring?
I’d say the same sort of music I listen to all year round! What is that you ask? A bit of this and a bit of that! I’m so not cool when it comes to music. I’ve been listening to a lot of Arctic Monkeys recently though and Ed Sheeran.

10. What kind of fashion items/accessories do you opt for in Spring?
Florals. It’s an obvious one, but I really don’t think you can go wrong with floral prints in spring, no matter what’s ‘on trend.’ I’ve recently bought two reclaimed vintage skirts from ASOS, both of which are in floral patterns. I imagine I’ll be getting a lot of wear out of them this spring!

Thanks to the lovely Georgina for creating the spring tag!
I tag:
Charli - Charlotte Rose
+ anyone else that wants to do it!
