Sometimes I feel guilty about loving my job. Is that weird? Until I started working for myself, I always felt like work was something you had to do, rather than something you want to do. Doing what I love for a living has completely changed my life and although it’s great to be earning money, I feel like it offers so much more than just that.
Are you doing what you love? If not, what’s stopping you?
Your degree - Do you feel you have to do the job you’re doing because it’s what your degree is in? Don’t! Yes university cost a lot of money and you feel like you should make your degree worthwhile but surely your happiness is worth more than that? A lot of skills are transferable so you’ll still be utilising your degree anyway.
The need to re-train – Some people are put off doing what they love because they know it’ll mean re-training. The truth is that it will be worth the effort and money if it means doing what you want to do and actually enjoying your job. Today you can often do online courses or evening classes, so you can fit it around your other commitments.
Fear – Change can be scary but you shouldn’t let that put you off doing something that could improve your life and make you happier. Have confidence in yourself and seek support from those around you.
The point I want to make with this post is that you are in control of your own happiness. I know that sounds cliché but it’s so true. There’s a lot of value to get from doing what you love, whether it’s for work or as a hobby and you definitely deserve to give yourself that chance.
I was inspired to write this post after seeing the quote above on Pinterest and reading this post by Marina. I hope you enjoyed it!
