Love Captured

There are all kinds of love in this world and eHarmony is choosing to celebrate them in it's latest Love Captured competition. All you need to do to enter is upload a photograph that captures the nature of love. It could be the love you share with your partner, best friend, family member or even your pet dog! You can be as creative as you like!

Don't worry though, you don't have to be a professional photographer to win. eHarmony is looking for snaps that capture emotion, whether it's happiness, sadness, excitement or whatever love makes you feel.

The winning entry will win £1,000 and eHarmony is also giving out weekly prizes on Twitter too! If you fancy entering, simply head on over to this page to read the rules and upload your photograph. Remember to get your friends and family to vote for you by 'liking' your picture, as the most popular image from each UK region will automatically go through to the final 25!

To get in the spirit of things I decided to enter a picture of James and I on our first holiday to Woolacombe, somewhere that is so special to us both. If you're not entering yourself, I'd love it if you could vote for us!

Need a little inspiration? Check out last year's winner and runners up to see the sort of photographs eHarmony are after.

Will you be entering the Love Captured competition?

A few little thoughts on blogging

I've been feeling a little out of the loop with blogging recently but taking a step back has made me realise a few things, which I thought I'd share in this post...

It's okay to take a break
I think many bloggers including myself feel like they have to post consistently or their readers will lose interest. This can make you feel like you're under a lot of pressure and from my experience, results in half-hearted posting. It's important to remember that it's okay to take a break! People will still be here when you get back (she says hoping people are still reading this blog). Don't put too much pressure on yourself.

Take time to gather inspiration
Recently I've been lacking inspiration on the beauty blogging front. I still love sharing beauty posts and reviews (in fact I've got a couple coming up soon) but I'm really interested in exploring other content ideas. I'm taking some time to gather inspiration and see what other things I can offer through Seek My Scribbles.

Don't blog for the sake of it
I can't tell you how many times these past couple of weeks I've gone to write a post and then just thought 'nope my heart's not in it' so I've closed the tab. I can never see the point in churning out a post for the sake of it. If it's not my best work, I'm not going to share it.

Remember who you are and what's important
I think it's important to remember that you're more than just your job. I spend all day writing articles and blog posts for other people, which I thoroughly enjoy but sometimes the last thing I want to do is spend more time at the computer, writing a post for my blog. This past couple of weeks I've decided to take more time for myself. I'm a daughter, girlfriend and a best friend, as well as a writer and I want to spend more time with the people I love.

I hope this hasn't come across as me being negative, as the truth is I'm feeling quite positive about this little space! I just wanted to put all of my thoughts down on the page as I find it helps to clear the mind. I thought that it might also help anyone who's feeling the same about their blog or their creativity right now too.

Do you ever feel under pressure to blog?
How do you get your mojo back when you're feeling creatively drained?

Time for a catch up

Regular readers of this blog will probably have noticed that I've not blogged for nearly a week - oops! It wasn't intentional, I've just been a little busy and unfortunately that meant that I didn't have time to keep up with my posting schedule. I don't know about you but I sometimes think it's good to take a little blog break, even if it's just for a few days - you come back feeling so refreshed!
