Quick Mummy Makeup Routine

In the past I'd take great pleasure in doing my makeup and spend a good while on application but as a mum with a toddler who likes to lend a helping hand, it's something I now try to do as quickly as possible. Arthur loves helping me do my 'makeups' as he likes to call it and I've found if I let him pass me the products so he feels like he's doing a good job, it stops him smushing my favourite Charlotte Tilbury lipstick or digging his fingers into my pressed powder. Win-Win.

My quick mummy makeup routine isn't revolutionary but it does the job. I've never been one for overly creative makeup looks or wearing a lot of makeup (though admittedly, I wore a fair bit of eyeliner in the emo days) so these products basically allow me to create a natural daytime look.

I start with the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer, applying it under my eyes and on any redness or blemishes; followed by the Fast Base foundation, which comes in stick form. I simply make a few strokes over my face and then use a large buffing brush to blend them out and down my neck. I find that a little translucent powder over the t-zone helps to set it in place.

I've never been that into contouring (it's too hard to find my cheek bones under the hamster pouches) but I do like using a little of The Body Shop Honey Bronzer to attempt to some definition. This bronzer is perfect for my pale skin tone and adds a slight shadow without being too obvious. I also have recently started using the Makeup Revolution Goddess of Love highlighter on days where I could do with a little glow. This is such a lovely highlighter and I find a small amount on your brush goes a long way.

After quickly filling in my brows with the Makeup Revolution Duo Eyebrow pencil, I apply one of the eyeshadows from my Body Shop quad. It's usually the matte brown colour or the peachy shade, which has a slight shimmer but somedays I don't bother with either and go straight for the Soap & Glory Supercat liquid eyeliner! I like to attempt a cat eye flick, which I still struggle with despite doing it since I was about 15 but hey-ho. My current favourite mascara is this one from B. at Superdrug. It seems to be a good all-rounder in terms of thickening, lengthening and volumizing the lashes, though I do struggle slightly when it comes to removing it at the end of the day.

For the lips, I tend to apply the Strawberry Milkshake lip balm from Tanya Burr Cosmetics but if I'm feeling a little more fancy, I'll apply my new favourite lipstick; a raspberry pink shade from ASOS called Uncompromising. I'm planning on doing a review post of my favourite lipsticks, so keep your eyes peeled for that!
And there we have my quick mummy makeup routine that'll take no more than five minutes. I'm really enjoying all of the products I'm currently using but like changing things around every now and then, so if you have any recommendations from cruelty-free brands, feel free to leave them in the comments!
