Pay day treats

New Look tan sandals, H&M sun dresses, Bourjois cream blush (healthy glow), Maybelline Colour Tattoo (on & on bronze), LOreal Superliner, Yves Saint Laurent mascara, Bourjois chocolate bronzer, Miss Selfridge mint rose skirt, Zara studded sandals
Tomorrow I am off to London with two of my best friends (Kate and Hannah)! I'm so, so excited, especially because we are heading to Twickenham stadium in the evening for The Sound of Change concert (Chime for Change). I cannot wait to see Beyonce, but I am also very excited to see Haim, Florence and the Machine and some of the other awesome bands / artists.

Before we head to the concert we are planning on doing a spot of shopping. I won't be buying all of the things featured above, but these are just what I have had my eye on for the past month or so. We are also going to pop for lunch somewhere, so if you can recommend anywhere different (as in from the usual suspects haha) in central London then leave a comment below or tweet me (@meganjane03)

I'll definitely pop a blog up when I get home on Sunday and let you know how my trip went! Hope you all have a fabulous weekend (hopefully this glorious weather will stick around)! xo

Repurchase or replace

VO5 hot oil // Soap and Glory Clean on Me // Soap and Glory Glad Hair Day // Soap and Glory Sugar Crush body wash // Lush Big shampoo // Lush Vanilla Dee Lite lotion // Boots moisturising cream // Ted Baker body lotion // YSL mascara (faux cils) // Rimmel Glam Eyes liquid eyeliner

I know 'empties' posts are liked by some and loathed by others, but I personally quite like them. It is probably because I'm a little nosey and like to find out what products people have been using and whether or not they are worth the hype. Anyway I thought I'd share with you some of the products I have used up lately and let you know whether or not I will be repurchasing them, or replacing them with a different product!

1. VO5 Hot Oils

The VO5 hot oil tubes are something I purchase now and then. I wouldn't say they are a regular purchase of mine. I tend to buy them when my hair needs a little extra TLC or right before I'm going to the hairdressers (I'm always scared they're going to tell me my hair isn't silky enough haha). Funnily enough I don't actually know if these make a difference or not. I like to think they do, but sometimes I just think they make my hair look a little shinier and silkier for a day or two. These will be on my 'will probably repurchase at some point' list.

2. Soap and Glory Clean on Me shower gel

I absolutely love the smell of this shower gel by Soap and Glory. It is fruity without being too 'in your face' for the morning. It also contains a built-in body lotion which is pretty awesome for those days you can't be bothered to apply body lotion (don't pretend I'm not the only one). My mum bought me this HUGE bottle for Christmas, but I've also had a number of the smaller versions before which you can get in some of the S&G sets. This one will definitely be going on my repurchase list - I love it!

3. Soap and Glory Glad Hair Day conditioner
Again this is another S&G product which I received at Christmas. I had used the Glad Hair Day shampoo before, but not the conditioner, so it was nice to use them both together. I like everything about this conditioner. The scent again is quite fruity (contains raspberry fruit vinegar) and it definitely does everything a conditioner is supposed to. This one is made for fine to normal hair types and claims to have 'no buildup' but despite this I still tend to alternate my shampoos and conditioners as buildup is super icky. This one will definitely be on my repurchase list.

4. Soap and Glory Sugar Crush body wash
After going on about how much I liked this product when I bought it, I ended up hating it (it's not very often I say that about an S&G product). I bought this citrus-scented shower gel after reading about how wonderful it smelt on so many beauty blogs. Initially I thought the same, but after I had used it for about a week, I realised what the scent remind me of...citrus toilet wipes and bleach. Yes after that it is fair to say that I had been put off this product completely. I actually ended up putting it in the family bathroom to use as a back-up handwash haha. This one will definitely be replaced with something else.

5. Lush Big shampoo
This was a sample I received at the Lush blogger evening in Nottingham a couple of months ago. I can honestly say it has the weirdest texture ever for a shampoo, but it totally works. Big is a salt shampoo that gives your hair added volume. It feels really weird lathering it into your hair, with all the salt bits but I liked it. The only thing I don't like is the smell and the only thing I can put it down to is seaweed. I've had seaweed products in the past that I've not liked. Despite not liking the smell, I will be repurchasing this product as I love the effect it had on my hair.

6. Lush Vanilla Dee-Lite
I've already written a separate review post on Vanilla Dee-Lite so you can read that for a full review. This one is a definite repurchase.

7. Boots moisturising cream
I put this cheap moistuirising cream in my basket after James kept going on and on about how much he liked the smell of it (cucumber for those interested). Whilst I do like the smell, the texture of the cream isn't for me! I'm definitely going to be replacing this with a different moisturiser (probably the N0 7 beautiful skin day cream). Lesson learnt - don't listen to your boyfriend.

8. Ted Baker body lotion
I received this lovely body lotion at Christmas. My mum and dad kindly surprised me with the Ted Baker vanity case from Boots. Inside there was lots and lots of Ted Baker bath and body goodies including this body lotion. Despite hating the packaging due to my butterfly phobia (haha) I love this body lotion. It has a lovely scent (bergamot, red fruit, tuberose and patchouli) and sinks into the skin really quickly. Although I love this product, I probably won't be repurchasing it as I need to use up all of my other body lotions. Lush Vanilla Dee-lite is my only exception to this rule as it is my favourite.

9. YSL mascara
For a full review of this mascara please see this post! This is my favourite mascara and I will definitely be repurchasing it come pay day.

10. Rimmel Glam Eyes liquid eyeliner
This eyeliner did the job, but it was nothing extraordinary. I'm still yet to find a liquid eyeliner that I really, really love. If you have any recommendations please leave them in the comments below! I won't be repurchasing this one as I'm on a mission to find the perfect eyeliner.

Dash for the sun

It makes me smile that the ladies of Britain are so full of hope. As soon as the sun comes out we whip off our opaque black tights, wiggle out of our skinny jeans and pop on our favourite summer dresses. We then head out with a huge smile on our faces with the hope of getting sun kissed skin, only to find it is actually still a little too cold to be baring our legs!

This is something that Warehouse have captured ever so beautifully and comically in their latest campaign video titled 'Dash for the sun.' The video follows a girl about town, dressed in her winter wear. Like most of us ladies, she gets a little excited when the sun appears. After energetically jumping into the air her look suddenly changes. Just see for yourself - it's pretty awesome!

Warehouse will be running #dashforthesun events at some of their stores on 25th May. They have also teamed up with a couple of other companies including Dermalogica and label.m to offer goody bags to those who spend over £50.00 in store. Click here for more information on participating stores.

I'm absolutely loving Warehouse's current range of summer dresses and can't wait for the weather to brighten up so I can dare to bare my legs and get a beautiful bronzed glow (one can hope!)

Outfit of the day: Poppy print dress

One-shoulder floral dress - Warehouse* // Orange heels - New Look // Red lipstick (Brilliant Red) - The Body Shop
Close up of the poppy print pattern

By now you have probably gathered that I'm pretty into floral prints. I just can't get enough of them! I have plenty of floral print dresses in my wardrobe, but until recently I was missing a poppy print dress. This gorgeous orange and white poppy dress is from Warehouse. As you can see in the picture it is a one-shoulder dress with ruffled detailing over the neckline. I find one shoulder dresses very flattering, but this one also has a tie around the middle to enhance the waist. The material is very lightweight (perfect for summer) yet firm enough for it to hold its shape. It also has a zipper on the side so it is easy to get on and off, though I always get a little confused about where to put my head and arms in one shoulder dresses (please say I'm not the only one!)

As the pattern on the dress is such a striking colour, I decided that I didn't really need to dress it up too much with jewellery. Less is more! Instead I thought I'd enhance the colour even more by pairing it with my favourite orangey-red heels. It's funny because I would never have gone for these heels usually, but I'm so glad I picked them up as I've found that they go with so many of my dresses.

Since the dress has ruffled detailing, I thought I'd keep my hair simple by straightening it. I also think an up-do would look great, something effortlessly chic like a high bun / top knot. This dress is a perfect 'going-out dress' for summer, but it also looks equally as good paired with black tights and a faux leather jacket. I actually took a picture in my leather jacket but it was far too blurry to include (sorry).

Warehouse has been one of my go-to stores for many years as they always have a fabulous range of dresses. There are so many gorgeous day time and going-out dresses on their website at the moment, so be sure to check them out come pay day!

Thoughtful gifts for her: Bunny ring holder

Bunny ring holder - Find Me A Gift
(The diamond ring was my late grandma's - I'm not engaged!)

As a lover of jewellery, I am always on the lookout for ways to display my pieces, so when this lovely little bunny ring holder arrived, I was left smiling from ear to ear! I love animal-themed items and think this design is simple and sweet, yet elegant at the same time. It makes the perfect addition to my dressing table! What's great about this cute bunny ornament is that you can loop your rings over the ears so you can have them on display on your dressing table. Sometimes I find it such a faff having to go through all of my boxes to find my rings, especially if I'm in a rush to get ready, so I'm definitely going to find this rabbit ring holder very useful.

The thing that surprised me the most about the ring holder is how weighty and well-made it is. I love the mirrored design, which fits in really well with the other items on my dressing table. At just £7.99 I think you will agree that it is very reasonably priced. It would make the perfect birthday gift for a female family member, or a best friend - my mum absolutely loved it when I showed it to her!

Whilst I intend to keep this on my dressing table for the time being, I will also be using it as a display piece at the craft fairs I do every now and then. When setting up my jewellery stall I always like to spend time getting it looking perfect and this bunny ring holder is sure to show off my rings in the best light possible.

The rabbit ring holder can be purchased directly from the Find Me A Gift website. They have so many  other lovely gifts on their website and do a very good job at catering for all tastes! Go have a peek and see for yourself.

A new summer dress and a pretty pastel satchel

Floral dress and shoes - New Look // Blue satchel - Zatchels

Today I'm combining two of my favourite trends in my outfit post - floral print and pastels! The dress I'm wearing is currently one of my favourites.I am a sucker for floral print and I love the bright summery colours featured in this dress. It has such a flattering shape, with a rounded neckline and a tie to pull it in at the waist. I decided to wear it with black tights and red flats today, but when I wore it to a family meal the other day, I skipped the tights and added a pair of orangey-red heels.

I couldn't complete this post without gushing over my beautiful pastel blue satchel from Zatchels. I bought it in their birthday sale where you could get a whopping (yes the word whopping is the only way to describe it) 50% off! I found it so, so difficult to choose between all of the pretty pastel colours, but after much deliberation and a little help from my mum and James I chose this lovely blue colour. As an extra special touch I decided to have it personalised with my name. I don't think I've ever owned anything that has been 'personalised' before, except maybe one of those velvet name headbands everyone used to have when they were six haha!

Did you manage to resist the Zatchels sale? What do you think of my personalised satchel?

Links of London Friendship Bracelet review

If you follow me on Twitter you may have seen the picture I tweeted of this lovely Links of London box that came through the post the other day. I was so excited to show you what was inside but thought I'd save it for this blog post today. Anyway as you can see from the images below it is a gorgeous purple threaded friendship bracelet!

Links of London Friendship Bracelet*
The collection of Friendship Charm Bracelets by Links of London is inspired by the friendship bands we used to make as children. I know that I used to have hours of fun making plaited threaded bracelets for my best friends when I was younger - I guess you could say the fun never really went away  for me since I still make jewellery today! Of course this is a much more sophisticated friendship bracelet, made from beautiful sterling silver.

What I wasn't aware of before reading the note card that came with the item, is that the bracelet is actually handmade. The purple fabric has been carefully hand woven through the sterling silver bars. As a lover of handmade items, you can imagine that as soon as I read this, I loved the bracelet even more! You can tell that the item has been crafted to a high standard and will last years and years. Links of London also donate a percentage of each friendship bracelet sold to hard working charities around the world, which I think you'll agree is pretty awesome.

The friendship bracelet is really easy to take on and off and can be adjusted to fit your wrist size perfectly. I can imagine it looking beautiful stacked with other colourful bracelets from the collection, but it looks equally as lovely on its own. They come in a variety of different colours and styles, perfect for the summer months ahead.

The simple yet elegant design is very wearable, making it the perfect piece of jewellery to compliment every day outfits. If like me, you cannot imagine taking the bracelet off that often, then you will be pleased to know that it is hand washable! Yes if you use a little shampoo or a mild hand-wash detergent, you can get your bracelet looking as good as new.

All in all I have to say that I really love this bracelet. It is very different from the style of jewellery I usually wear, but that's great, as I've discovered a new type of bracelet that I like! Although I haven't purchased from Links of London before, after liking this bracelet so much I am definitely going to have  to have a look at their other jewellery collections. Two of my best friends have been fans of the brand for years, so it's about time I joined in!

Did you use to make friendship bracelets as a child?
Have you bought anything from Links of London before?

Help me choose my first ever MAC lipstick

So I have something to admit, I'm a MAC virgin. Yes I can hand on heart say that I have never ever tried a MAC product ever...and well I think it's about time that changed! Come pay day I'll be on the hunt for my first ever MAC lipstick (or two) and I could do with a little help from you beauty bloggers out there! I tweeted earlier and got a few recommendations from some lovely ladies, but I thought I'd post on here too. I'm open to pinks, reds and even nudes! I've never really owned a nude lipstick before so this is something I would like to try but I have to say, I do love my pinks and reds too.

Let me know which are your favourite MAC lipsticks and what shades you think would suit me in the comments below!

Seek My Scribbles gets a makeover!

Some of my regular followers may have noticed that Seek My Scribbles has had a little (well actually quite a BIG) makeover! Yes I thought it was about time that my blog became the beautiful thing I've wanted it to be for so long. Thanks to the lovely, wonderful and talented Abby from Baggle Web and Design I now have this sweet and oh-so-dreamy layout.

I had been umming and arring over whether to have a custom blog design for so long as I wasn't quite sure what I wanted. A few weeks ago something just clicked and I had a good idea of the type of header I wanted, along with the colours (well mint, I just kept saying mint). Abby was completely on my wave length and turned my initial thoughts into this beautiful creation. If you are thinking of having your blog designed then I highly recommend hiring Abby. She's one talented lady!

Anyway now that one of my HUGE writing orders is over I'm hoping to get back to blogging more regularly and the fact that my blog looks this pretty is certainly a great motivator!

What do you think of Seek My Scribbles new look?

PS how cool is the recent post slider? I'm fascinated!
