NSPA Melting Cleansing Gel (£4.05) and Hot Cloth Polish (£7.00)*

This month I've been loving the Melting Cleansing Gel and Hot Cloth Polish by NSPA. I received both of these skincare products in my #Eastmidsmeetup goody bag late last year. NSPA was not a brand I'd heard of before, but after doing a little research I found that their products are exclusively stocked in Asda. What surprised me is how affordable their skincare range is, especially when you consider the quality of the products.

My skin has been suffering a little recently, so I decided to start a fresh skincare routine using these NSPA products and they have worked a treat! The Melting Cleansing Gel is my favourite out of the two. I like the fact this starts off as a gel (with almost an oil like texture) when you massage it in to the skin dry, but then when you add a little water, it turns into a cleansing milk. Magic!

What I also like about NSPA is that they number all of their products so you can easily create a four step skincare routine. I will definitely be picking up more products from this range in the near future.

Asda currently have a 3 for £10.00 offer on their NSPA skincare range.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Illuminating Moisture Cream (£10.00)

This is possibly the most beautiful moisturiser I have ever used. Woah big statement there Megan! I absolutely LOVE it though. Not only does the Vitamin E Illuminating Moisture cream hydrate and moisturise the skin, but it also contains light-reflective particles which leave you naturally glowing. I think the lilac-toned glow it creates is beautiful for no-makeup looks, but also provides the perfect base for your makeup. If you suffer from dull skin or simply want to brighten up your complexion, I highly recommend using this moisturiser. I will actually be doing a post next week sometime about achieving a glowing complexion, so look out for it!

The Body Shop Radiant Highlighter (£12.00)

I've been all about glowing skin this month (probably because I've been ready for springtime) and one of my favourite products for achieving it has been this radiant highlighter by The Body Shop. What I love about this product is that you can either apply it under your foundation or over the top (or if you're like me do a little of both!) I usually apply a small amount under my foundation to boost the radiance of my complexion and blur the blemishes. I then dab a little over my cheek bones (they're there under my hamster cheeks somewhere I promise) after I have applied my blusher. What I like about this highlighter is that it creates a natural glow. Although it is shimmery, it is not glittery in the slightest, so don't worry you're not going to look like Edward Cullen in the sunlight!

Makeup look of the moment #1

Nottinghamshire, UK

I don't know about you, but I'm one of those people that tends to stick to the same makeup look day in day out. Yes I change my lipstick and blush colour every now and then, but when it comes to doing my eyes it's usually winged eyeliner over the top of neutral brown shades. After sorting out my makeup collection the other day, I decided I needed to change things up a little and make better use of the products I own. I thought I'd go for a shimmery gold eye and pink lip, as after reading around it appeared to be a look that will be on trend this season.

Rather than going for a smokey gold eye, I thought I'd try using the eye shadow quite subtly, applying it under the lower lash line. I chose to use Starry, a gold eye shadow in the Dreamy palette by Vivo Cosmetics, but any gold eye shadow will do the trick. I paired it with my favourite pink lip gloss, Aurora by Tanya Burr and added a little colour to my cheeks using the Max Factor cream blush in Soft Pink. I've been struggling with my skin a little recently, so don't think I can't see those blemishes - I can haha! But blemishes aside, I did really like this subtle springtime look and I think I'm going to be ditching the winged eyeliner a little more often this season.

What makeup looks have you been loving recently?
Are you like me and get in a habit of doing your makeup the same way every day?

Fairypants vegan friendly nail polish review

Nottinghamshire, UK

Vegan friendly and cruelty free
Unlike many other nail polishes on the market, Fairypants’ nail polishes are both vegan friendly and cruelty free. They are not tested on animals and they do not contain any animal ingredients. If you are sat there wondering what animal ingredients could possibly be included in a nail polish, think fish scales and crushed beetles. Yes it made me feel a little queazy too…

The nothing nasty rule
All of Fairypants’ nail polishes are what is known as ‘five free.’ There are five nasty chemical ingredients that are often used in nail polishes (one of which is formaldehyde) but you won’t find them in these polishes!

Bluebell by Fairypants
Fairypants’ new collection of vegan friendly nail polish will feature five pastel shades, all of which will contain tiny black glitter flecks that are designed to make your nails look like little birds eggs! I was lucky enough to receive the shade Bluebell,* which is a gorgeous pastel blue colour that shimmers in the light. I adore the whimsical label!

Testing it out...
When it came to testing it out I found the polish so easy to apply. The brush was just the right size and the polish glided on smoothly. Not only that, but Bluebell is possibly the fastest drying nail polish I have ever used! I hate sitting around waiting for my nails to dry, so offer me a quick drying nail polish and I’m sold!

I did find that the polish chipped after a couple of days, but to be honest, so do many nail polishes. This was without a top coat, so maybe next time I’ll try it with one, as it’s likely that it will give me a couple of days extra without chips.

At £3.99 I think this nail polish is very reasonably priced. It's cheaper than the Models Own Speckled Egg polishes and although I've not tried them, this polish from Fairypants looks to offer a similar effect. Will I buy the other shades when they come out? Yes I will! I already have my eye on the rose pink shade.

Fairypants nail polishes will be launching soon.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas 2014

Nottinghamshire, UK
Sanctuary Spa With Love  Set - Boots // Mum's Goodies - Lush // Vintage Tea Party Mug - Gifts & Pieces
Enchanted Wood Journal - Paperchase // Amazon gift card - Amazon UK
I thought I'd share some of my Mother's Day gift ideas in case some of you are still not sure what to buy your mammas! Bath goodies are always a winner. My mum and I personally love the bath products by Sanctuary Spa. In this set you get all sorts of minis and what's even better is that it's just been reduced from £45.00 to £22.00! We're also fans of Lush. The Mum's Goodies bouquet features the limited edition Wonder Woohoo bubble bar (inspired by Wonder Woman). Whether your mum is a tea drinker of a coffee drinker she is sure to love this beautiful vintage tea party mug from Gifts & Pieces. I'd highly recommend having a browse of the website as they have so many beautiful homeware pieces that mums will treasure!

Who doesn't love a good notebook? I couldn't resist featuring this Enchanted Wood journal by Paperchase. My mum would absolutely love it and as a writer, she would find it so useful for scribbling down all of her book ideas in. Speaking of books,  if you are looking for a new one to read, check out my mum's book The Dragon Legacy. Your mum will love it too and she could even treat herself to it if you buy her an Amazon gift card for Mother's Day!

What are you planning on treating your mum to this Mother's Day?

Gifts & Pieces homeware treats // The Body Shop mini haul // Pretty F&F peter pan collar top
Jazz and Oby waiting for their walkies // New elephant print phone cover // Wearing THAT dress again
Candle light is my favourite // To do lists are also my favourite // Nothing beats a cup of tea before bedtime
Can you believe we're half way through March already? The weeks are just flying by so much quicker than they used to. It's probably because I am so busy at the moment and being self-employed, that is definitely not something to complain about! Of course, I could not get through my my busy days of article writing without my morning cup of coffee. For me my morning coffee is a little luxury, especially now I can sip it from one of my beautiful new Gifts & Pieces mugs featured above. I bought these as a treat for myself and my mum. We try and make time for a morning coffee together before we start our work.

I'm in love with my new peter pan collar top. It looks lovely with my faux leather skirt and will look equally as nice with a pair of high waisted jeans, when I eventually get round to buying a new pair! Despite the fact I work at home, I still like to make sure that I am dressed for the occasion. Though are the odd days where fleecy pyjama bottoms and a chunky knitted jumper are my chosen attire.

Speaking of working from home, I have had a couple of requests for posts on the subject of freelancing. Would that be something you are interested in hearing about? If so, let me know!

Also I just wanted to say thank you all for your continued support. I do notice every time one of you hits the follow button and I promise you, I do a little happy dance. Maybe I'll show it you sometime!

Mobile Madhouse iPhone case review

Nottinghamshire, UK

As hard as I try to keep my iPhone safe, my clumsiness means that it often ends up falling onto the floor when I’m in a rush or getting splashed with water when I’m in the bath and trying to skip to the next Taylor Swift song. Yes I am that cool. Luckily Mobile Madhouse were kind enough to send me one of their pink flip iPhone covers* to help protect my iPhone against it’s clumsy owner.

Aside from the faux leather flip cover being stylish with its fancy stitching and gorgeous pink colour, it is also an extremely practical choice of case. Not only does it stop the screen from getting scratched, but it also holds my phone securely in place and helps to stop it getting bashed about. Something I’ve always had trouble with is holding my phone when taking photos (I don’t know why) but somehow the phone case makes it easier to hold. I also like the fact it has a magnetic clasp, the sound it makes when it closes is so satisfying!

Overall I am very impressed with this phone cover and for just £2.90 (sale price) you really can’t go wrong! Mobile Madhouse stock cases and covers for all of the top phone brands and makes. You simply select your phone from the list and you will be shown all of the covers for your phone type. From flip cases to rubber phone protectors, there is sure to be a cover you will love.

What's on my wish list?

Nottinghamshire, UK
Lulu Guinness - Small Izzy Satchel // Urban Retreat Beautique - Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm // Urban Retreat Beautique - Guilot Long Lasting Moisture Cream & Anti Fatigue Eye Gel // Etsy - Mean Girls Pencils // Flamingo Candles - Vanilla & Black Pepper classic square jar candle // Feel Unique - Guerlain Meteorites Pearls // Models Own - Speckled eggs duck blue nail polish
1. Oh how I would love to own a Lulu Guinness bag. As soon as I saw this small satchel on another fashion blog, I knew I had to feature it on my wish list. At £350.00 I won't be buying it any time soon (if ever) but a girl can dream right?

2. I have wanted the Emma Hardie cleansing balm ever since I tried it in a beauty box many moons ago. I don't know why but I keep forgetting to pick it up. When I run out of my hot cloth cleanser, I'm moving on to this next.

3. There are so many products I want to try from the Guinot range at Urban Retreat Beautique. Two of which are the moisturising cream and the anti fatigue eye gel. I've mentioned before that I really hate my dark circles and I am sure the anti fatigue eye gel would do the trick! I like the fact that Guinot aim to target different skin issues with their products, such as sensitivity, dry skin and ageing.

4. These Mean Girl pencils are so fetch. I don't even use pencils any more, but I want to have these in my bureau just so I can look at them and chuckle.

5. I have seen these candles being featured on quite a few blogs and now I really want one for myself! The candle that caught my eye was the vanilla and black pepper candle. I have never experienced these two things together, but I bet they create a wonderful scent!

6. The Guerlain Meteorites Pearls are just so, so beautiful. Who could resist those pastel shades? Certainly not I!

7. I love the speckled egg range from Models Own as it reminds me of my favourite easter treats, Mini Eggs. I am really into blue shades at the moment and think I may have to pick up the 'duck blue' speckled egg polish to add to my collection.

What's on your wish list right now? Do we share any of the same products?
This is a collaborative post.

Fashion and Beauty Haul

Nottinghamshire, UK
I don't know about you but I love being nosey and seeing what other people buy, which is why I like haul blog posts and videos so much! Today I thought I'd share some of the purchases I've made over the last month or so...

The Body Shop
If you saw my Body Shop wish list post last month you will know that I was lusting after the special edition blueberry shower gel amongst other things! I decided to pick it up using the 50% off discount, along with the shea shower cream, radiant highlighter, eyebrow pencil, vitamin e illuminating moisture cream and the vanilla & tonka bean home fragrance oil. I absolutely love everything, but the stand out products from my order are definitely the blueberry shower gel (it's so refreshing in the morning), the radiant highlighter and the illuminating moisture cream. I think I will be doing a review of the highlighter at some point, so be sure to look out for that!

I can never resist the Boots 3-for-2 offer, but I managed not to go crazy, picking up just three makeup items. The first was the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation (review here), the second was the Maybelline Falsies Volum'Express and the third item was the Revelon Colorburst in the shade Demure. I picked up the mascara and lip lacquer balm after reading so many good things about them on various different beauty blogs and I am very pleased I did because they're both lovely!

Whilst I love the look of expensive candles from the likes of Jo Malone and Diptyque, unfortunately I simply cannot justify spending that much money on a candle for myself (at the moment). Aside from buying Yankee candles, one of my favourite places to pick up candles is Tesco. These candles only cost about £3.00 each, they have fantastic burn times and the scents are divine. I picked up vanilla (an old favourite) and linen (which is such a fresh and pleasant scent).

The top from F&F at Tesco was a spontaneous purchase. I am a magpie for embellished collars, so when I saw this beautiful top I knew I had to make it mine. It is made from a lovely light material and is a gorgeous pastel colour, making it the perfect wardrobe staple for spring.

I've wanted kitty shoes for ages and although I would love to own Charlotte Olympia's original version, again I cannot justify spending that much money! Instead I picked up a dupe on eBay for £12.99 (link here). Now it's getting a little sunnier I'm looking forward to wearing these with my pretty spring dresses. If you want to get your own pair of kitty shoes, I highly recommend sizing up if you buy them from the eBay seller I have linked to, as they are on the small side!

5 Pieces of diamond jewellery every woman should own

Okay, so maybe all five could be a bit out of the budget for many, but every woman should be treated to diamonds at least once, by herself or a generous gift-giver!
Beautiful diamond jewellery never really goes out of fashion and for ladies looking to frost themselves in a little once-in-a-lifetime luxury, diamonds make a great investment all round. So what pieces make the best buys? Here are five pieces of diamond jewellery every woman should have the chance to own and enjoy!

1. The cocktail ring
Never mind diamond engagement rings (although they are, obviously, lovely!), a cocktail ring isn't anything more symbolic than a self-bought treat to be trotted out on special occasions like the little black dress of the jewellery box. Of all the diamond rings, it's the cocktail ring that takes a simple outfit to the next level, oozes chic and lavishes the eyes of the jealous but adoring beholder.

2. Diamond stud earrings
A superb choice for daily wear (after all, what good are great diamonds if you never get to wear them?), diamond stud earrings are as classic as Paris' Champs-Elysees. A real style staple for women of any age who want to enjoy their diamonds on a daily basis.

3. The diamond tennis bracelet
For ladies with no shortage of buying power, a classic diamond tennis bracelet of round brilliant cut diamonds in 18ct gold setting is one of the most stylish ways to show off those gems. Plus, in the cold winter months after Christmas, a diamond tennis bracelet worn over a fitted pair of leather gloves means keeping warm and chic in one stylish swoop!

4. The diamond pendent
Sometimes it's nice to wear your diamonds every day. And, like stud earrings, diamond pendent necklaces make great style impact without the impaired wearability of something like a grand cocktail ring. Wearable at the gym, on the beach, in the office, at a formal event, on the school run and over a warm sweater, diamond pendent necklaces are arguably one of the most versatile diamond jewellery choice for every woman.

5. Loose diamonds
Okay, so they're not technically jewellery... yet! Loose diamonds from a reputable certified jeweller can make a great investment for the woman who wants her diamonds to be as versatile as possible. Maybe she wants to collect sentimental gems for a piece of custom jewellery, maybe she's putting her money where her gems are, or perhaps she just hasn't make up her mind yet!

Certified diamond rings, loose diamonds and other jewellery from a jeweller with an impeccable reputation make the best investments. Buying online? Websites like TrustPilot are great places to start because they're made up entirely of customer reviews.
So, what have we learned? Classic diamonds never go out of fashion and elegance is about style quality not accessory quantity!

Canvas Dezign review

Nottinghamshire, UK
Canvas featuring my dog Jazz*

Although I enjoy taking photographs, something I am rubbish at is having them printed out, so when Canvas Dezign asked if I would like a personalised canvas to review, of course I said, yes, yes please!

After much deliberation I chose a photograph of my beautiful German Shepherd / Collie Jazz. He is the most photogenic little thing and I knew the photograph taken in my garden last summer would be perfect. Upon receiving the Canvas, I couldn't believe how beautiful it was! The quality of the image is excellent, as is the quality of the actual canvas. I can't wait to hang it up in my living room so I can admire it every day. I think I am going to have to get a couple more featuring Oby, Thomas and maybe some of my less-photogenic (just kidding guys) human family members.
The personalised canvas prints provided by Canvas Dezign are already extremely affordable (prices starting at £7.99 with free delivery) but they were kind enough to send a discount for my blogging friends to use. Simply enter 'BLOG15' at the checkout and you will get 15% off the total price.
Uploading an image to the website is very straight forward and you also have the option to view it and add effects if you wish to. It is recommended that you upload high quality images that won't distort or alter in colour when increased in size.
What do you think of  my new canvas? Would you be interested in getting one yourself?

The Vampire Diaries Tag

I don't do many tags on my blog, but after I came across the Pretty Little Liars tag on a couple of blogs recently, I decided to look for a Vampire Diaries version! Luckily for me Ingrid & Joey created one a few years ago so I nabbed it for my blog post today. If Vampire Diaries isn't something you watch then sorry (but you need to start watching it) I'll be back with one of my usual review posts on Friday! Everyone else - Enjoy!

How did you discover the show?
I discovered the show through my mum - she’s clearly way cooler than me! When I watched the first episode initially I was like ‘blah this is just trying to copy Twilight’ how wrong I was! I watched it again quite a few months later and became completely hooked. I raced through series one and two and then ended up watching them over and over again until season three was out.
Who is your favourite character?
This would have been such an easy question if Klaus and Elijah hadn’t moved to the spin-off show, but now they have gone I think it’s got to be Caroline (favourite female) and Damon (favourite male). Caroline is hilarious and I think it’s easy to relate to her. Damon is just Damon. Need I say more?
If you were a vampire, would you live off human or animal blood?
Hahahaa this is such a weird question as I am a vegetarian! Probably human?! I wouldn’t like kill people, just drink blood bags. Oh my I have got way into this…stop me now.
Team Stefan or Damon?
Team Damon! However, I do love Stefan now he’s not with Elena! In fact I think whichever brother is with Elena turns into the boring brother for a while.
What’s your favourite supernatural power?
You’d wanna be an Original if you could be one of them right? I know I would. Vampire power x one million.
If you were to be a character who would you be?
I was going to say Caroline because of Klaus *over exaggerated wink* but the problem is that I don’t find Tyler the slightest bit attractive! Oh I’ll go with Caroline anyway, yes make me Caroline please!
Have you read the book series?
No but my mum has! I told you she was cooler than me. The books are supposed to be quite different from the show. If you have read them and watch the show, let me know what you think.
Who’s your crush on the show?
Seeing as Klaus and Elijah are on The Originals now I will go with Damon!
What was your initial thought of the show and did it change after you saw it?
Already kind of answered it…basically I thought it was going to be a Twilight rip-off in TV form. I was completely wrong! It is easily one of my favourite shows on TV now.
Who was your favourite villain?
Easy peasy - Klaus!
Any other Vampire Diaries fans out there? If so - I tag you!

Mr Nutcase iPhone case review

Nottinghamshire, UK
Elephant print iPhone 4 case - Mr Nutcase*
I love personalising my possessions so when Mr Nutcase asked me if I'd like to review one of their phone cases, of course I jumped at the chance! They gave me the option of either uploading my own image to use on my cover or choose one of the designs by their artists. Whilst one of my beautiful animals would have made a gorgeous phone cover, I simply could not choose between them and instead opted  for this adorable elephant print design!

As well as getting to choose your own design (which can be further customised with clipart) you can also choose the type of case you want. I opted for the ultra lightweight slimline style cover, as for me a bulky phone cover is a big no no.

After placing my order, the cover arrived just a couple of days later. I quickly clipped it to my phone and was very impressed by both the quality of the case and how pretty the design looked. Unlike other phone covers, Mr Nutcase's slimline covers have clear plastic sides which I personally think looks so much better. From examining the case, I also feel like it would protect your phone pretty well as it is a hard case with an accurate fit.

Overall I am really impressed with this iPhone case from Mr Nutcase and would certainly recommend them to anyone looking to personalise their most prized possession! It's not just iPhone covers they make either. They create phone cases for all sorts of makes and models which you can select from the drop down list on their website.  The slimline cases cost just £14.95 which I think is a very fair price for such a quality product!

Do you like personalising your phone with cases? What's more important to you, the design or the protection it provides?

February Favourites

Nottinghamshire, UK

It's February Favourites time and there are just four products that have stood out to me this month...

Benefit Under My Spell Noelle fragrance

Under My Spell Noelle is a beautiful fragrance by Benefit which I reviewed earlier this month. It has such a pretty woody floral scent, but it is the notes of vanilla that really stand out to me. The perfume lasts quite a long time on the skin, but what's great about the bottle is that it is mini sized so you can just pop it in your handbag if you need a top up.  I have been alternating this with my Vivienne Westwood perfume and it has quickly become a firm favourite out of the Benefit set I received for Christmas.

Soap and Glory Make Yourself Youthful eye cream

I am only twenty three so skin ageing is not something that is a major concern for me yet, however dark circles under my eyes are something that bother me, especially because I'm so pale. I picked this up on a whim and I am so, so glad I did. Whilst I could tell you about all of the magical 'technologies' S&G use to create the product, I would rather concentrate on what the product does and that is brighten, smooth and hydrate the delicate skin around the eyes. All you need to do is pop a tiny bit under each eye and gently tap it into the skin using your ring finger (morning and night.) It has made a big difference to my dark circles and has earned its place in my daily skincare routine.

Models Own Blueberry Muffin nail polish

I picked up this beautiful pastel blue nail polish in the Models Own 50% off sale after noticing that I didn't own any blue nail polishes. Although it is supposedly a scented nail polish, I can't say I have noticed any sort of scent, but this wasn't my reason for purchasing it anyway. The colour is absolutely beautiful and I love it so much that I have worn it for most of the month. I really thought it would be my Models Own HyperGels that I would wear the most, but it is this one that has took pride of place in my collection!

Blueberry Muffin is the perfect pastel shade for spring and gets bonus points for me as it looks lovely when I wear my ruby ring that James bought me for Christmas. Application is a little streaky so you will need to apply two or three coats. It is very fast drying though, which is beneficial for impatient ladies like myself! I'm definitely going to pick up the other polishes from the Fruit Pastel collection as I'm sure they will be equally as pretty.

Tanya Burr Champagne Toast lip gloss

I would go as far as saying the two lip glosses I bought from Tanya Burr's collection are the best lip glosses I've ever owned. Champagne Toast is one of those shades that just goes with all makeup looks, which is probably why I have been wearing it for most of the month! I love the fact that the gloss isn't too sticky and that it smells sweet like strawberries and cream.

Something which I forgot to mention in my other post about the Tanya Burr lip glosses is how great the applicators are. They are firm foam sponges as opposed to brushes, which makes it so much easier to spread the gloss evenly. Champagne Toast has quickly become my go-to lip product and I will definitely be investing in a few more shades from the collection. See swatches of Champagne Toast here.
