A few little thoughts on blogging

I've been feeling a little out of the loop with blogging recently but taking a step back has made me realise a few things, which I thought I'd share in this post...

It's okay to take a break
I think many bloggers including myself feel like they have to post consistently or their readers will lose interest. This can make you feel like you're under a lot of pressure and from my experience, results in half-hearted posting. It's important to remember that it's okay to take a break! People will still be here when you get back (she says hoping people are still reading this blog). Don't put too much pressure on yourself.

Take time to gather inspiration
Recently I've been lacking inspiration on the beauty blogging front. I still love sharing beauty posts and reviews (in fact I've got a couple coming up soon) but I'm really interested in exploring other content ideas. I'm taking some time to gather inspiration and see what other things I can offer through Seek My Scribbles.

Don't blog for the sake of it
I can't tell you how many times these past couple of weeks I've gone to write a post and then just thought 'nope my heart's not in it' so I've closed the tab. I can never see the point in churning out a post for the sake of it. If it's not my best work, I'm not going to share it.

Remember who you are and what's important
I think it's important to remember that you're more than just your job. I spend all day writing articles and blog posts for other people, which I thoroughly enjoy but sometimes the last thing I want to do is spend more time at the computer, writing a post for my blog. This past couple of weeks I've decided to take more time for myself. I'm a daughter, girlfriend and a best friend, as well as a writer and I want to spend more time with the people I love.

I hope this hasn't come across as me being negative, as the truth is I'm feeling quite positive about this little space! I just wanted to put all of my thoughts down on the page as I find it helps to clear the mind. I thought that it might also help anyone who's feeling the same about their blog or their creativity right now too.

Do you ever feel under pressure to blog?
How do you get your mojo back when you're feeling creatively drained?

  1. Definitely know what you mean! The pressure can be to blog to a schedule and post even if it is a filler. I stopped blogging to a schedule for like 5 months as I wanted to keep it free and easy! I've got a bit more time and motivation so trying scheduling again, but if it doesn't work then I will just go back to what makes me happy! Glad you are feeling positive again about the blog :) x

  2. I've never felt pressure to blog, but I've felt guilty if I haven't in a long time. I guess it's a similar situation. I think taking time to get inspiration is so important, but if you keep yourself tied to a schedule you won't get a chance. I'm glad your feeling more positive about everything! I hope a lot of people take a good message from the post, I did!

  3. This is so relivent for me right now. I have lost the love for it a little :(

  4. Just starting a blog, I definitely feel the pressure, Not as much as someone with a large follow count but I feel like if I don't post the followers I have gained will simply loose interest... When I feel drained I look back at previous experiences and write about that and usually a few ideas come from it! Thankyou for sharing xx

  5. I think that's a good way to be! I'm not pressuring myself into sticking to a schedule for now, just going with the flow! :) xo

  6. You're right! It is hard to think up new ideas when you're putting yourself under pressure to post. Thanks so much for your lovely comment :) xo

  7. I'm glad it's not just me! I'm just taking some time for myself and I'm sure I'll be back to loving it again soon :) xo

  8. Such a good idea Rhianna! I wish you all the luck with your blog :) xo
