4 Family Days Out in Devon & Somerset | Bucket List for Summer

Summer is fast approaching and although it's a pretty busy time of year for my other half with work, I'm hoping to squeeze in plenty of days out for the weekends we get together as a family. I feel like since I've had Arthur, I've seen and done so much more. Weekends are no longer about being lazy and ordering a Domino's to eat in front of the TV - they're about getting out, enjoying some fresh air, seeing new places and making wonderful memories together. There are so many attractions for families with kids in Devon and Somerset, so I thought I'd share a few we're hoping to visit over the next few months...

1. Wookey Hole Caves

Wookey Hole Caves in Wells, Somerset is somewhere I've wanted to visit with Arthur, ever since I saw it advertised on TV when we moved down here. Arthur really enjoyed his first caving experience at Carnglaze Caverns back in January, so I'm sure he's going to love doing it on a much larger scale at Wookey Hole! I'm interested to learn the history of the famous caves and legend of the Wookey Witch. I reckon it'll be a really fun day out for us all! The venue has been kind enough to send us a family pass to use this summer, so I'll be sharing photos from our day out and a review of the attraction here on Seek My Scribbles.

2. Pennywell Farm

Pennywell Farm in Buckfastleigh, Devon looks like a lovely activity farm to visit with the family. There seems to be lots going on, from animal shows to toddler-friendly rides, so I'm sure we'll have a great day out! Arthur seems to be a real animal lover (hardly surprising since we all love animals in my family) so I think he'll really enjoy getting to meet, pet and bottle-feed some of the little farm animals. It's something he's not had the chance to do yet but I think he's the perfect age for it now.

3. Brean Leisure Park

We visited Brean Leisure Park back in the autumn for Arthur's birthday but vowed to go back in the summer, when the weather was (hopefully) better and we could make the most of the waterpark! Arthur's a big fan of waterslides (he's a lot braver than his mummy) so we'll definitely be heading there on a warm day. There's also a theme park there, with some toddler-friendly rides, which I'm sure he'll love just as much as last time. With something to offer everyone, it's definitely a fun day out if you happen to be holidaying nearby!

4. Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park

Arthur's a bit of a dinosaur fan - he loves reading books that feature dinosaurs and can even name a few different types. When we're at the park, he sometimes turns the equipment into dinosaurs that he's encountered - got to love the imagination of a two year old! With this in mind, my partner suggested we should take him to the Wildlife and Dinosaur Park in Combe Martin

Along with lots of fantastic dinosaur attractions, including a dinosaur museum with mini cinema, dinosaur express ride and dinosaur themed soft play, the park is also home to a number of Mammals, Reptiles, Birds, Arthropods and Amphibians. Daily schedules at the park include free shows, talks and animal experiences. I'm really looking forward to spending a day there - I think we'll have a lot of fun!
