5 Home Styling Tips for Summer

I don't know about you but I've been loving all the sunshine we've been treated to lately and I hope there's much more to come, what with the official start of summer being just a few short weeks away! The start of a new season is a great time to make a few little changes in your life; from swapping the clothes in your wardrobe for something a little more summer-friendly to re-styling your home. Fancy doing the latter without spending a small fortune? Here are a few summer home-styling tips to get you started...

1. Go Botanical

This summer it's all about bringing the outdoors inside and embracing all things botanical! From leaf print wallpaper to floral soft furnishings, there are plenty of ways you can introduce the trend to your home this summer and it's really a case of the bolder the better! Make a statement with a leaf print feature wall in your bedroom or if you prefer a more subtle nod to the trend, these cushions from H&M will make a lovely addition to your living room sofas.

2. Maximise Natural Light

Don't let the glorious sunshine and hours of daylight go to waste. Make the most of it in your home by opening up your window spaces and letting it shine on through. Ditch heavy drapes and curtains in favour of stylish Roman Blinds that can be pulled right up to the top of your windows to let the light flood in, in the day time but can also be left down to offer shade on those days where it's a little too warm! Blinds UK have a stylish selection of Roman Blinds for you to choose from. I love the look of the Sheers Collection, made up of blinds that allow you to maximise natural light in your home, whilst also offering privacy.

Extra tip: Whilst a new Roman Blind will dress your window with style for summer, it's worth giving your windows a good clean too. Trust me, it'll make all the difference to the look and feel of your home!

3. Add Metallic Accents

Metallic accents will bring a luxury feel to your home this summer and can totally transform the look of a room, without breaking the bank. But this season it's not about rose gold and copper (even though I'm still personally a huge fan of both) but brass and gold - considered more 'earthy' in tone and dare I say a touch more sophisticated. Brass is set to be the new copper this season so you'll have no trouble picking up affordable pieces you can use as accents in your home, such as mirrors, vases and table lamps. George at Asda have some gorgeous brass lamps. I'm loving this industrial tripod table lamp (a real steal at just £30) and this palm tree lamp (now £10) ticks both the brass and botanical trend boxes!

4. Treat yourself to a New Dinner Set

It may sound silly but something as simple as a new dining set can help bring your home into the new season and they don't have to cost a fortune either! Next have a beautiful range of dining sets perfect for summer barbecues and family meals, in a variety of patterns including marble and geometric, both of which are on-trend for summer 2018.

5. Colour Pop

A great way to brighten up your home for summer is to add a splash of colour. Whether this is in the form of a new lick of paint on your walls or dotting a few new colourful home furnishing and accessories around the home is up to you! Colour pops in shades like peacock blue, forest green and burnt orange are right on trend for 2018 summer interiors.
